Awesome!
I wish this was my SAE in the FFA back in High School! For those of you who don’t know what an SAE is or even the FFA, I guess I can enlighten you. The FFA (Future Farmers of America) Association is a national youth leadership organization who main goal is to provide students with opportunities to grow as an individual, experience the agricultural community, and prepare them for the industry for any career they choose down the line. The amazing thing is that you don’t have to be from an agricultural background to get the most out of the FFA experience.
It is split up into three categories that all work into each other almost like a venn diagram and those are: FFA-Leadership, Classroom/Laboratory - Ag Education, and the SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) - Raising Animals or Growing Crops. The organization itself is over 500,000 members strong nationwide and it is all inter-curricular. So in high school (especially in California) if a student wants to take an elective, they can enroll into a number of classes depending on the school and where it is located such as: Introduction to Agriculture, Agricultural Mechanics, Floriculture, and even crossover classes that count for A-G requirements like Agricultural Biology or Economics. Once a student walks into an agricultural classroom they automatically are considered an active FFA member and have all the amazing opportunities available to them.
Now that I am off my soap box with the FFA and all the ins and outs… back to this video! I was sitting down with one of my old FFA friends and he was the one to show me this video. If know anything about showing livestock, this video would crack you up. I am just starting to become more engaging with all these blogging/social media sites like Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook. We shall see how I do for an entire year, so mark the calendar July 2, 2011, next year I hoping to see myself as an expert on those bad boys!
